CYLINDRICAL MEASURES
Description:
It is used to determine bulk density or unit weights of aggregates.
Specification:
Cylindrical measures of sheet iron with handles. Consists of 3 measures one each 3 liters capacity, 15 liters capacity and 30 liters capacity. Complete with one tamping rod, round, 16mm dia. and 600mm long, one end rounded.
 

SPECIFIC GRAVITY AND WATER ABSORPTION OF AGGREGATES
Description:
This set is used for specific gravity, apparent specific gravity and water absorption of aggregates.
 
Specifications:
The outfit comprises of- 1No. Semi-self indicating balance, capacity 5 kg, accuracy 0.5gm, provision is made in this balance to suspend density basket under material pan. Balance is supplied with necessary set of weights.
 
This balance is mounted on an angle iron frame stand. 1 No. Density Basket. 1 No. Air tight container of capacity similar to that of density basket 1 No. Water tight container to suspend density basket. 1 No. G.I. Tray of area not less that 650cm sq. 2 Nos. Absorbent clothes 75cm x 45cm.
 

STANDARD PENETROMETER
 Description:
Used to determine grade of bitumen. The penetration tests determine consistency of bitumen for the purpose of grading. Depth in units 1/10 of millimeter to which a standard needle having a standard weight 0 will penetrate vertically in a duration of five seconds at a temperature of 25 C determines penetration for gradation. 
Specification:
It consists of a vertical pillar mounted on a base provided with leveling screws.
 
The head, together with dial plunger rod and cone (or needle) slides on a pillar and can be clamped at any desired height.
 
A rack and pinion and pointer assemble provides fine adjustment of needle or cone tip to sample. It incorporates a clutch mechanism which makes reading of penetration and subsequent resetting a simple and accurate operation.
 
The dial is graduated in 400 1/10 and the millimeter subdivisions and the needle pointer against figures makes easy reading. Supplied with a bitumen penetration needle, ring weight one each 50gms and two sample containers.
 

MINIATURE COMPACTION APPARATUS
 Description:
This is used for rapid determination of moisture content dry density relation using a constant weight of dry soil passing through 75 micrometer IS sieve.

It consists of the following:
It consists of a metal cylindrical tube having 50mm I.D and 435 mm height, a detachable base plate and a cap are provided for this tube.
8. nos. 1.5 mm dia. holes equally spaced are drilled at a height of 100mm from the base of the tube.
A metal rammer 48mm dia. x 48.5 mm in height is attached to a metallic rod with knob, so as to have a combined height of about 550 mm and a total weight of 2.6kg. This rammer is adjusted for a free fall of 310mm.
The graduations in millimeters and centimeters are marked on this rod, to coin side with zero (0) of the scale with the cap of the tube.
Graduation is marked downward 0 to 8 cm with millimeter divisions.
Plate has internal diameter of 50mm dia.
OD of 140 mm and height of 25mm is supplied with flange and wing nuts for easily introducing soil sample and removing it.
 

RELATIVE DENSITY APPARATUS
 Description:
This apparatus is used for the determination of the relative density of cohesionless free draining soils and meets the essential requirements of IS 2720 (Part-XIV).
Specification:
It consists of the following:
The equipment consists one each of: Vibratory table with a cushioned steel vibrating deck about 75 cm x 75 cm.
It has a frequency of approximately 3600 vibrations per minute under a 115 kg load.
Amplitude is variable in between 0.65mm in steps of 0.05 to 0.25mm, 0.25 to 0.5mm and 0.45 to 0.65mm.
Suitable for operation on 415 volts, three phase supply.
Cylindrical metal unit with mould, 3000 ml capacity.
Guide Sleeve with clamp assembly.
Surcharge base plate for mould.
Surcharge weight.
The total weight together with surcharge base plate and handle is equivalent to 140kg./sq.cm. for mould.
Cylindrical metal unit weight mould 15000ml capacity.
Surcharge base plate for guide sleeve.
Surcharge weight for cylindrical mould of 15000 ml. cap. (Total weight together with the above mould 8 surcharge weight is equivalent to 140 kg./sq.cm.)
