WATER TO WATER HEAT PUMP TEST RIG

DESCRIPTION:
Heat Pump and the refrigerating machine basically work on one and the same principle and with the same components. Heat pump is a machine, which delivers heat at a temperature suitable for domestic, Industrial and Commercial purposes. By added work input form the motor or engine it extracts heat from low-grade source. In many circumstances heat pumps can make valuable contribution to energy conservation. The majority of heat pumps operate on the vapour compression cycle using a refrigerant as the working fluid. Heat pump is fully sealed R-134A refrigerant system using water-to-water pumping principle. The equipment produces realistic results and has low thermal inertia so that unit stabilises very quickly and enables student’s maximum experimentation.
EXPERIMENTATION:
Determination of co-efficient of performance of the unit when working as water-to-water heat pump.
To Construction of Energy balances for completed system over a range of operating conditions.
To determine overall heat transfer co-efficient for condenser and evaporator.

Condenser Water cooled type shell and coil condenser with refrigerant inside the tube.
Water flow measurement Provided with individual rotameters and four temperature sensor for both condenser and evaporator.
Expansion Valve Capillary Tube, Compatible Capacity.
Safety Control Overload and over current protectors for compressor and Time delay circuit.
Evaporator Water cooled Compatible capacity.
Temperature Sensor       RTD PT-100 Type.
Control Panel comprises of        
Digital Voltmeter 0-300 V
Digital Ammeter 0-5 Amp.
Temperature Measurement Digital Temperature Indicator with multi-channel switch.

WATER COOLER TEST RIG

DESCRIPTION:
‘THE WATER COOLER’ Test Rig enables students to study and understand Vapour Compression Cycle, its components, principle and working. All the components are mounted on rigid steel frame. The trainer consists of a hermetically sealed compressor, forced convection air-cooled condenser, filter / drier, flow meter, expansion device and coil wound type evaporator. Separate pressure gauges are provided to record suction and discharge pressures and digital temperature indicators for various temperatures.
EXPERIMENTATION:
To study the cooling capacity of water cooler.
To Study the Vapour Compression refrigerator cycle.
To Calculate Co-efficient of performance and draw P-H Diagram.

MEASUREMENT OF LEVEL BY AIR PURGE METHOD
 TECHNICAL DETAIL
A water tank having Diameter 200 mm, Height 500 mm with graduated scale with a bubbler pipe having Length 600 mm, made of stainless steel 304 grade, connected to a U-tube manometer to measure pressure.
Air supply by air pump of compatible capacity with pressure regulator acts as an Air Purging Valve, ¼” BSP & Janatics/ Festo Make.
The whole set-up well designed and arranged on a rigid structure painted with industrial PU Paint

PRESSURE DROP IN TWO PHASE FLOW (With Data Logging Facility)
TECHNICAL DETAIL
 A glass column having Dia. : 25.4 mm,
Length 900mm made of Borosilicate Glass. 
Water Circulation by FHP Pump, Crompton/ Sharp make from water tank made of Stainless steel 304 grade, 1.2 mm thick, capacity 60 liters.
Air and water flow rate  measured by using flowsensors with local digital display. 
Pressure drop measurement one by using Differential pressure transmitter. 
Buffer tank with safety valve & pressure gauge and separator made of Stainless steel 304 grade. 
All the ball Valves should be imported. Operating temperature range should be -40°F to 302°F, Working pressure of valve should be in range of 600psi & valves use in vacuum pressure up to 2x10-5 psi. 
High speed Data Acquisition system, model NI-USB 6001, National Instruments Make with 16 Inputs, Multifunction I/O, compact DAQ card. 
The whole set-up well designed and arranged on a rigid structure painted with industrial PU Paint

COMBINED FLOW REACTOR (COMPRESSED AIR FEED SYSTEM)
TECHNICAL DETAIL
PFR followed by CSTR type: Helical Coiled Tube Type PFR of Volume 0.6-0.7 Ltrs and CSTR of Capacity 2 Ltrs made of Stainless Steel 304 Grade. 
CSTR Stirrer of Stainless Steel Impeller and shaft coupled with FHP motor. 
Feed Circulation by compressed air from Feed Tanks, 1.2 mm thick, capacity 20 liters each, made of stainless steel 304 Grade 
Flow Measurement by Rotameter. 
Piping should be of Stainless Steel and PU pipe. 
Bourdon type pressure gauge of 0-2 Kg/cm2 and Pressure Regulator of 0-2 Kg/cm2
